Why, why, why won't my BC crust?? I've been doing this for over a year now and haven't had any problems until recently. I always use walmart's veg. shortening and haven't changed anything. It's cool enough in the house.... hmm, it is supposed to rain. Aaarrghhh! Any ideas?

I've heard that Walmart brand has taken the trans fat out of it's shortening too. Check your shortening label for trans fat. That could be your problem.

OK, I feel I have to ask this question. I have been wanting to for a long time and tonight is the night and I think it will fit in with this thread.
Why do you want your buttercream icing to crust? I try to package my cakes right away so they don't crust. I like the smooth creamy icing on my cakes.
Am I missing something here?

Maybe she's going to use a roller or the Viva method to smooth out the buttercream? It has to have a crust to work.
