Ok I was on here the other day searching for something icon_confused.gif can't remeber what it was but I came across a post about a chocolate cupcake that was frosted then I think dipped in melted chocolate, just the frosting not the whole cupcake ??? Does this sound like anything anyone has heard before? It might have had something to do with Rich's bettercream...I have been doing alot of searches for that lately. Thank you in advance to anyone that can help I really would like to try these someday. thumbs_up.gif

I make 'high hats'. They're chocolate cupcakes iced in vanilla or chocolate buttercream and then dipped in melted chocolate. They're really yummy and a big hit with everyone.

I believe you are looking for cupcakes called top hats. They are frosted with white frosting (very tall) then dipped into chocolate. Look for cupcake websites you will see them alot. I hope this helps. I've never done them but they look great!
p.s. You will probably find a recipe on that site also.

I remember seeing them and the tops looked like a chocolate dipped Dairy Queen ice cream cone. Well, without the little curly Q. If I remember correctly, they used a marshmallow icing, similiar to the 7 minute frosting. I tried to get into the galleries to find them but the internet isn't cooperating right now. You may want to look under miniature cakes to see if you can find them. They were back several pages. I'll try again and see if the internet will let me!

Thank you everyone for your help I am still trying to retrace my steps to find them...I think they might have had something to do with Martha Stewart??

Here is mine: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=762533

I do these and call them chocolate mountain cupcakes. I do a 7-minute marshmallow frosting and then dip them in melted candy melts with some shortening mixed in. They are a HUGE hit.

I just did this with with some cupcakes last week and they were a hit! I made a choc cupcake filled with whi choc cream cheese filling. I had some left over melted whi choc so I decided to drizzle it over the tops. The drizzle turned into a frosting layer and oh man... they were a hit! The white choc i used the candy melts but the milk choc I melted with heavy cream and did a ganache. I am new to this and finding out everyone loves a cupcake! icon_biggrin.gif
