Read you could make a terrycloth texture on fondant by using a stiff brush. Before I go buy an assortment, wondering if anyone knew.

Also read to glue pieces of fondant together with royal icing for this hutch. So basically gluing sides, back and shelves together. How does this compare to eggwhite or watered down fondant as glue?

Thanks so much for any advice!

I just press my fondant on to a terry cloth towel and get the impression from the real thing.
As far as "glue" I use egg white, or water, but I am sure there are lots of members who use royal.
I don't know what you are making, so not to sure what to suggest.

Making a hutch -- a chest of drawers with shelves sitting on top and putting baby items in the hutch as part of a babyshower cake. I don't want my shelves falling down, so was curious what is the strongest.

Thanks for the terrycloth tip.

For terrycloth, I have also used the smallest side of a box grater. Obviously dont' grate the fondant, just use the grater to make an impression.
