icon_cry.gif I had stocked up on my cake mixes last year when there was a big sale, I wasn't watching and rotating my stock as closely as I thought, I have 5 boxes of cake mix that says use by October 2006. Do cake mixes go bad? Or can I still use these?
THANKS! for any replys! icon_biggrin.gif

Hmmm. I don't know if there's anytihng in the mix that will "go bad", but chances are they won't rise as well as they normally would. here's a bump...

I think you'll be fine.

I don't believe cake mix ever expires. It just isn't as good for baking after the date on the box, hence, "best if used by".

If it has baking soda in it - that can go bad. If you cake won't rise that may be the problem. You can add fresh baking soda but be careful - too much could effect the taste.
