When I got home last night, my KA was sitting in its box on the sofa. I think I barely got in the house before I could get it out of the box. Since then, just walk in the kitchen and stare at it and rub it and stuff. I gotta make something before I go nuts.

Also, here is my second basketweave. It's a Red Velvet cake with white chocolate cream cheese frosting.

LOL congrats on your new KA! I got so irritated the other night I snapped lol. I cussed the computer shut it off and closed it up. (laptop) Hubby asked me what was wrong I confessed to him "Everyone in the freakin world is getting a freakin kitchen aid but me and it's just not fair!!!!" so I continued my little temper tantrum and he looked at me and busted out laughing and said "Wait till after christmas and see what santa brings you" Well I for one know mom can't afford to get me one I already asked and she said if she hadn't finished my christmas shopping that'd be the ONLY thing I got but she's already done so maybe she'll give me $100.~ for my birthday to go towards it.... me and hubby don't have it so I know he isn't going to go out and buy me one... there isn't anyone left to get it for me lol Santa isn't going to bring it to me because I've been a bad girl this year (for those lil kids reading make sure you weren't bad this year so you get all you want from Santa icon_cry.gif)

Anyway yes post a piccy of your new toy!!! Is it black? Does it match your coffee pot and blender sittin there? Bet that's a beautiful kitchen with all those pretty black shinny appliances.

Can I come play with your new toy too?? icon_cry.gif lol

It looks pretty good. I have yet to even try a basketweave. You are so brave!

I bought a kitchenaide before I had a kitchen or even a pot to piss in. It was just me and my kitchenaide.

If I hit the lotto beteween now and Christmas I will get you a kitchenaide OhMyGoodies. I really just assumed everyone baker had one. Your story is aweful!

Maybe if you just believe Santa will really get you one. icon_smile.gif

I can feel your joy tmdoxie. At the top of my Christmas list is a nickel pearl KA Pro. If Santa doesn't have that wrapped and under the tree for me Christmas morning, Santa is cut off from all future cookies and cakes icon_smile.gif

You know how I got my KA??????

I set my son up with a girl I worked with. Both had broken up with their fiance's at the same time. That was January. In June he asked her to marry him. They set the date for October. I hadn't done cakes in 20 years. He wanted more than anything for me to do the cake. He said sentimental reasons. (I said he's tight! hahahah) Anyhow, I started out making the icing with hand mixers. Went through 3-4 hand mixers. (neighbors, mom's etc.). I called my son and said, "I got you a wife now you owe me a KA. If you want me to do this cake, I need a KA to get it done!!!!. Five teirs later he had an Ok cake. Three years later he is still madly in love with his wife. Three years later I am still madly in love with my KA!!!!! lol. Sorry so long!!!

I remember my first K5 dance party.gif...how cool is it to be able to walk away from the mixer and not have to stand right there either holding a hand-held or making sure the bowl on the ol' Sunbeam mixer doesn't take flight?!

Get that sucker on there fast! Tell someone it's the most important thing on there! (let word spread - hopefully people will go in on one! hee hee!)

That's how I got mine. A wedding shower gift, and I've been in love ever since. Love it more and more every day!

I have a friend who's been working up to baking "under my wing" and after only 2 days, wants a KA for herself. I don't know that she'd ever use it on her own ... but she's addicted. It happens so fast.

Hi everyone - this is my first post here @ CC. I have asked Santa for a KA because I've been especially good this year. If he doesn't come through I'll just have to buy one for myself!! Love the color - Cobalt Blue is my dream. Is the Artisan a good size? I have heard that its a little underpowered - but being a beginner I'm sure it will make me very happy!

Thanks everyone! I finally used my KA. I made some gingerbread dough in it and some royal icing. It was kinda awkward, but I felt the same way when I got my other mixer, so I think I just need to get used to using it. I loved the way it made the royal icing! I hope all of you that want a KA will get one. There's still time to get on Santa's nice list!

ahhh..... the memories of the first KA are like those of a first kiss!! I remember mine as well.... i had burnt out two mixers (my SUnbeam that DH got for me one year when i asked for a KA.... silly man...... and then my mom's hand held mixer....) making BC for a cake that was due the following day. I was ready to cry and DH said "go now and get the damn KA!" i ran out the door before he could change his mind. icon_smile.gif (this was like 6 years ago) LOVE IT! This is a MUST have for every household.

Let me just say....did a groom's cake in Albion, MI (7 hours from my home) and took my KA "just in case". WAS I HAPPY that I had when I got there only to discover that they had a lovely new kitchen (NOT commercial size) with 2 little Black and Decker hand held mixers! Not that there is anything wrong with a hand held. I have one that I still use for "small jobs", but, for the amount of work I had to do it was soooo nice to just pull my KA out of the rubbermaid Travel Kit and start mixin'! Have mixer.....Will travel!"

Merry Christmas!

i have a kenwood patissier mixer but i used to have a KA years ago at my work, so i know how good they are, i wish my kenwood was a KA cause in my opinion they are better , but im happy with what i have for now anyway, i love the orangey colour too its cool, when i do buy myself one im tossing up between purple and the brushed nickle ( i think that is what its called) but the only colours i have seen around here are white...boring... my kenwood is white and about 3 weeks after buying it i saw the nices blue in it,, i wish i had that one instead... anyway hope santa brings what you hope for...

I got my first KA 21 years ago, when a restaurant started ordering my cheesecakes. My daughter was 2 and the money helped support us when the hubby went back to college. It was the first "treat" I ever bought myself. That baby girl is 23 now and in Grad School, and that KA belongs to her! It's still working perfectly. After thousands of cookies (I've sold those too), and hundreds of cheesecakes and cakes, I've graduated to the Pro version, my third KA and my Christmas gift 2 years ago from hubby #2. It didn't cost much more than that first one did so many years ago! They are a tremendous value! Save your pennies and treat yourselves everyone!

Congratulations on your new KA. The color orange is so pretty. I love orange and your mixer is about the color of the paint in my kitchen and family room.

My KA changed my life just a few months ago. I didn't bake much until I got one. I'd been married for 20 years and had only a hand-held black and decker mixer I got as a wedding gift.

I got my KA by exchanging a mega-load of reward points from when I had a job where I had to travel every other week. We had to cover our own expenses upfront and I had been accumulating those points for years and could never figure out what to do with them. I wish I had thought of it sooner!!

Oh...and its a black artisan!! I love it!
