What are your thoughts? I've not had either and I want to order some for a wedding cake for this weekend. Your comments are welcomed and appreciated!

They are both great products. The taste is so subjective, everyone can have a slightly different opinion. I would buy the one with the best price/shipping price.

I dont care for fondex as far as usability. Tastes good, but I tried to cover my Jordan Air sneaker with it and it ripped all over the place. You cant roll it as thin as Satin Ice. I think you need to try different kinds and make up your own mind as far as use, texture and taste. But I think Im sticking with Satin Ice. At least until I try To make my own from the recipes here.

Okay, I've been buying Pettinice and I really like it, but last night I made my own and it was SO easy. Only took a few minutes to make. Here's the forum thread I started.

To be honest, I make my own fondant- marshmallow to be exact and It is just such a long process. I think I will make it for the cake this weekend, and then start experimenting. Thanks for the advice.

I am a recent satin ice convert (from mmf). I had a sample of fondx and I thought the taste was great, but i have not actually tried using it. The reason I went with satin ice was because I found it cheap at intotheoven.com

I love it now. I had a little trouble with it the first time I used it, just because it was different from mmf. I dont really think I will ever go back to mmf.

What about Chocopan? Anyone have any opinions on that? I just ordered some and haven't used it yet - I was just wondering if a white chocolate fondant was any different (usability wise) then regular fondant. I tasted it and it tastes really good - kind of melts in your mouth - just wondered how good it is to work with.

thanks
Brandie

A good friend told me that fondx doesn't take colors like red and black well. So she doesn't use that. Satin Ice you can roll thinly and easy to work with. But I also use MMF with success (except when I added Gumtex to it LOL). I also think that you should add flavoring to Satin Ice as I thought it smelt like playdoh also when opening the bucket

I hope this helps and have a wonderful fall day guys!

I tried the chocopan and it tasted great but I found it very soft and sticky. I use Satin Ice also.

The gumball machine cake in my photos is covered with Fondex. It took the red coloring very well. I had to add some PS to it as it got really soft, but anything would if you added that much liquid to it.. icon_lol.gif . I have colored it black too with no problems. I am going to try Satin Ice though to compare.. and I will definitely be using SI red and black as I HATE coloring fondant those dark colors due to the having red hands for a week, but Fondex isn't really that bad to work with once you get used to it and it tastes really really good.
