I need some help with details. What do I need to make the roof out of so that it will hang over the edge slightly? I also need to know how to make the iron fencing that some houses have? Please help if you can.

I made the one from Wilton,
I made the roof out of gingerbread, but graham crackers would work with extra royal icing to hold it all together.
The railing I made out of Royal icing (black) and let it dry very well and even when some pieces of the spindles broke it only made it look better.
Good luck, Anne

Why not just lightly cover the rough side of the cracker with enough thin Royal Icing to hide the cracker colour. The texture would probably look like a proper roof.

I made a haunted house on a hill with a grave yard... it's in my pics. I used pretzel stix "glued"w ith royal icing and just used royal icing for the spikes. it is less fragile than making the entire fence out of royal icing or chocolate. I also used cocoa krispies for the stone steps. Take a look...
