I haven't been having luck with this red velvet cake recipe:

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2259-19-Sarahs-Red-Velvet-Cake---a-tradition-of-excellence.html

It comes out crumbly and dry. Should I add a little oil and maybe another egg?

Thanks for any tips!

I use the same recipe and it has never come out dry. I don't think you should change the recipe perhaps its over baked. Try lowering your oven temp, or less baking time. HTH

My recipe isn't from scratch, but I like to buy a red velvet cake mix: double the oil, add an extra egg and a box of instant white chocolate pudding.

Aha!! Maybe I put too much cocoa! I seem to recall adding a little more than the recipe calls for.

I use that recipe and it is always moist. I've always gotten rave reviews with it!
