When I do this, I crumb coat it, let set. Cut it then crumb coat again. Then final coat of icing. The crumb coat is very thin. When I cut I us dental floss (less crumbs). Also, when I am putting on the final coat of icing I do the sides first. This helps hold it together when you are doing the top. It does take a bit of practice, but once you've done it a few times it is quick and easy.
Does she mean something like this cake,.... rather than pre-cut. maybe the slices are allready marked.... that is the only thing that I can imagine. !?!?!?!?

No, she actually means already cut ... so that all she has to do is scoop up a piece of cake.
I've seen them and I can't figure out what the big deal it. I mean, how hard is it to cut a sheet cake for crying out loud?
My very first wedding cake, however, the bride requested pre-cut. She was a little miffed when I set the 3-tier cake up NOT pre-cut and it took some time to explain to her why that was NOT possible!
(Idiot.)

Yeah, it was a bridal shower cake and each square had a decoration in it. I guess the cut marks are covered by icing? I would be afraid the cake would fall off the board!
Thanks for your answers! Hope I never have to do that. I can only imagine the mess of crumbs!
