I've read about so many ways to make butterflies:
- molds
- rice paper
- chocolate transfer
- royal icing

What's your favorite? Why? Do you have any special tricks? TIA!

it depends on the style of the cake as to how you make them... I recently had an order for 200 3inch cakes.... the bride wanted 100 with big butterflies and the 100 with two small butterflies.. I made them with gumpaste and used a cutter for the big ones and a paper punch for the small ones and viened them all.....this was the quickest way to get them all done!!! they're in my pics. to colour I dip wings in liquid colour mixed with alcohol, then either dust with chalks and or luster dust

So, how do you use a punch? A regular paper punch? Do you roll out the gumpaste and let it dry a bit first?

Thanks! Any other thoughts?
