I got mine from Barns and Noble and it is great. I've made two of the cakes for brides and they loved them. She's got great recipes and how to tips also.

If Khoudek says it is good, it must be. Her cakes are fabulous.
My favs are by Alan Dunn. I think he is wonderful. I have all his books (I think).

I have Toba's new book and it's FABULOUS!! I have her two other books (Creative Cookies and the Well Decorated Cake) and I will say, much of what is in the new book is already covered in those two books. However the new book has australian stringwork and marzipan chapters that are new. But since I have to have every book ever made I did have Barnes and Noble order it for me. If you are new to the wonderful world of the sugar arts, then I would highly recommend buying this book alone. I'm looking forward to meeting her next Spring at the ICES mini classes in Michigan.

Both books are available (or can be ordered) at all popular booksellers.

Being retired, I try to squeeze my $ as much as I can. You can get a lot of great books in nearly new condition by shopping ebay or used book sellers (most of whom do offer money back guarantees). Even with shipping, I've saved quite a bit icon_smile.gif

Hi Bobwonderbuns

How did you find out about the mini classes in Michigan I haven't seen anything about it at least not on the ICES web site.

I would love to attend but need to find out the date and more info any help?

Check your local library first before committing to the purchase. If your library doesn't have it, most libraries will do an interlibrary loan where they can get the book from another town.

I bought it. Nothing special. I beleive if you work with fondant then it is not worth the money. if you are into buttercream and royal icing stuff then it would be useful.

I bought it. It has a lot of information in it, but I never ended up using any of the recipes or designs. She says up front that she hates fondant and she hates the crisco/butter based icing, and that's all I use, so.... I felt we had irreconcilable differences icon_smile.gif

I just got Toba's book from a seller on Amazon's Marketplace ([email protected]).... it is new, not used, and it was $44 plus shipping.... great savings and fast shipment!
Here is the link to the ones available from sellers in Amazon's Marketplace. The person I got mine from has great feedback.

I've also got the Dede Wilson book and I LOVE it! I've used it twice for wedding cakes and they turned out great! I got mine at Books-a-Million. I think it was $25 or so. Worth the money IMO!

I bought this book by Dede Wilson. I have only tried the white cake recipe and it turned out great. I bet it will turn out even better this time now that I bought some cake flour. I had to substitute last time! I have also been told her lemon curd recipe in this book is awesome although I haven't tried it yet.

Yes. She also says she doesn't want cakes to be perfect, and that it upsets her when someone says a cake is "too pretty to eat". That's just...not how I do cake.

The recipes did look very good, though. And it contains a list of edible flowers that I photocopy and send to my brides who want fresh flowers on the cake.

THat's not how I do cake either. thumbsdown.gif (even if my pictures say otherwise icon_lol.gif). Too bad, I thought it was something better.
