Hi There....
The Bakery I believe your asking about is called Freed's Bakery. They have DELICIOUS goodies to die for!!!! (Meaning, to me, they are really good).
Hope this helps.......
I have been to Freeds, and yes, they sell by the slice and they are delicious. However, they are not that close to the strip, so be sure you have transportation to AND from there. We took a taxi there and then our taxi left so we decided to walk back to our hotel on a VERY hot day. Even though it was the morning, it is the closest I have ever come to suffering heat stroke, and I'm from Texas. Hope this helps.
We got married in Vegas this past April. Our entire group went to Freed's one day. We had 3 rental cars thank goodness because it was off the strip. We had wanted everyone to pick there own slice of cake instead of one wedding cake. But they were sold out of wedding cake by the slice! We ended up picking out two premade cakes. A chocolate cake with chocolate frosting covered in chocolate ganache. And a white cake with whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries.
I didn't know until later that the white cake fell apart before getting back to the hotel and my husband ran back to the bakery the morning of the wedding to get another one.
We got married at the Valley of Fire State Park, at dinner at Embers, (took a zillion pics all over Vegas) & then cut the cake at the red bar (can't remember the name) of the MGM Grand where we were staying.
The chocolate cake was very yummy but I don't suggest the white and strawberry. It just started melting the moment we walked out according to the guys. We kept both cakes in our fridge at the hotel.
If you want to see the cakes we picked and some views of Freed's, check out my myspace page:

Go to my pics and then click on the album for "Vegas Wedding Week"
There's also an photo album of pics of our wedding and pics we took around Vegas.....may also give your friend some ideas about that.
I have like 2 dozen pics of Freeds but only put a few on myspace and can't post any here because almost all have faces in them. I heard they've opened a new location since we were there also. HTH
Hi all,
I'm going to Vegas next month for my nephew's wedding although he and his wife will not (can you believe it) be having a wedding cake. They plan to have ice cream cones!(*@*)#&*#. I know - sounds a little strange but this wedding will surely be a little different. Anyway, I'm planning on going to visit Freed's bakery while I'm there. Their webside and gallery is beautiful - they do wonderful stuff there. I'll give you all a report when I get back - 22 days and counting - and can't wait (it's my first time)!!!!
Have a great day everyone. ![]()
Freed's is great on customer service also. I was married at the Venetian 7-years back and, I admit it, we did not have a cake (dessert was a choice of tiramisu and/or fruit). We celebrated our Lucky 7 out there last July and Freeds made our cake. A simple phone call, an email with the image we wanted, and majically a perfect cake was ready for our gala (I was a little nervous because the cake was for 60 people and they didn't even take a deposit or send a contract - kept thinking we are going to show up and they won't know who we are). Their shop is really cool to walk through and chat with the workers.
Freed's is the best! I'm orginally from Las Vegas and grew up on their cakes and pastries. Everytime I go home to visit my parents, I take my children to Freed's Bakery so they can also have a taste of the best goodies that I had as a child! I always try to visit around the end of July, my birthday, so I can have one of their cakes for my special day. As of the end of August, Freed's Bakery has a new location. This location is definitely farther away from the strip, so I'd check their website to keep udated on their new location. This new shop is in a nicer part of town that has been expanding like crazy! I can't wait to visit their new place, hopefully this Christmas. ![]()
