I am making gumpaste hibiscus flowers for a cake that is due tomorrow.. I had them both done, but I broke a petal so I have to remake that petal.. they both look the same.. but here's a picture.. please.. be honest. I want this cake to be really cool. This is the giant volcano cake I am making.

Thanks so much Cambo.. it is my very first time making them and I am SUPER nervous about it.. not to mention I have ZERO confidence in myself.. I fear I got myself in over my head with this cake. My first gumpaste flowers ever were the ones I made for my sister's shower cake last week.. I am going to have an ulcer by the time I am done.

Ok.. I honestly thought it was a before and after picture (before and after the broken petal). It looks fantastic.

You don't give yourself enough credit. The flower you made looks life like. I wish I had the talent to do that.

Honey, don't get all tied up in knots. Your selling yourself short. Most of us work at it for years and you are so blessed to be that creative. We all get stressed because we want it to be perfect and we want to impress. Most people do not study and critique our work as much as we do. As the old cliche goes. "We are our own worst critics" It shows how much attention to detail you put into your work and the others will see it too. Congratulations on a fantastic job! Keep up the good work.

The one you made looks EXACTLY like the real one!!! If they were side by side in a picture one couldn't tell them apart. no need to be nervous at all about your flower.....it's perfect!!!

Thanks so much everyone.. I am trying to relax.. it's hard. Seems that when someone actually PAYS you to do something.. you start thinking nothing you do is good enough.. I can't wait to get this over with. Stiff drinks for sure.. LOL!! icon_lol.gificon_wink.gificon_wink.gif

I have just made a post, It's always good to have a back-up. If you need two - make three. Keep one as spare. If you don't need it, you can always use it somewhere else.

Your flowers look fantastic.
