Have you ever bit off more than you can chew but didn't realize it until it was too late? It's 10:40 and I just put the crumb coat on a cake that is due tomorrow. It's a 'present' cake so after I decorate, I'll need to put the fondant bow on. I have to ice 30 + cupcakes to go with the cake and begin baking for a 3 tier anniversary cake for Saturday.
Sigh....I just want to go to bed because with all the anticipation, I didn't sleep last night ![]()
I'm just feeling sorry for myself I guess. But at least my cake seems to be really moist ![]()
You can do it!!!! We are up with you and will keep you company on your breaks ![]()
I am right there with you girl!!!
I have a cake due tomorrow that I have only just baked, I worked 15 hours today and I am leaving once the cake is done for the weekend. I haven't even done the laundry to pack!!!
The big man in the sky always seems to make sure we don't get ore than we can handle. Try to get organized and things will just come together.
Sometimes, it's just best to go to bed and work double hard tomorrow, after you have gotten some rest. You can do it!
When I'm overwhelmed, I tell myself I can do one more thing. Just one more. Then I feel so good it's done, I manage another. The important thing when I feel this way is to not get in a big hurry, because sure as can be, that's when I drop something or really make a bigggggg mistake.
Bite.. chew..swallow.. bite.. chew.. swallow.. little bit at a time and it'll be done!
When I'm really sick of cleaning I play 5's. Just wash 5 things.. just put away 5 things... I must be easy to entertain! ![]()
Hang in girl!!
Ohhh boy. Been there and I feel for ya. I'm all for working until you just can't, then go get some sleep and get up earlier in the morning. I'm so not a morning person, but for some reason when I have a cake to work on and I get up early in the morning to do it, I just pop right up out of bed. Guess it's not so exciting to go to my regular job. ![]()
Best of luck...you'll do fine!! No worries!
Sounds like me. I always get myself into situations where I am up late and stressing on everything that has to get done. My husband always says "Baby steps, honey. Baby steps." I am pretty lucky though my husband will stay up with me until I am finished.
I know you will get it ALL done. Just take it one thing at a time. Good luck!
Not sure what I was thinking, but I just put the bow on the cake. Duhuh. I still have to do the scrolls. Exhaustion has kicked in, but I can see the light (aka, darkness, snooze) at the end of the tunnel. I'm thinking I may have to work on the other cakes tomorrow before work (or call in sick). I just don't have it in me tonight. Thanks for all the support! By the way, I really like the idea of doing things in 5's!
Woo hoo!!!! You said the magic words! "Call in sick"!!
) I'm going to work tomorrow (until noon), but I'm skipping a class to get a cake as close to done as I can before I pick up the rugrats from daycare.
I've been where you are many times before. I get so mad at myself for putting it off so long.....I just want to say "forget it!" You can do it.... you'll probably get a second wind soon!
) Good luck!!!
I've been there this past week. Hang in there, it will work out. WHat I did was make a list of every little thing that had to be done. We tend to take the 'little' things for granted and they sometimes tend to take more time. And then, as I completed a task I put a line through it and went on to something else on the list. Evntually I could see things getting done and it didn't seem so crazy.
Good luck
I seem to alwyas feel like I have taken on more than I can cope with - I work in the morning and run my 7 year old aroud in the afternoons so baking begins after she goes to bed and every cake takes me at least 8 hurs. I didn't sleep a wink last night - have an order due today and you know you can't shift the deadline so you just do what you have to. Often think to myself in the middle of completing an order why am I doing it. Then when it all over, mess cleaned up and cake delivered I remeber why. ![]()
