Does anyone have a preferred brand of fondant for making modelled figures? I prefer making my characters out of fondant because it tastes better than gumpaste (and the kids always want to eat the figures). But sometimes I find that brands like "Satin Ice" and "Wilton" are a little too soft. When that's the case the pieces either flatten or sink while they're drying. Any tips?

If they're going to be eaten, don't use Wilton fondant. YUK! I just use my regular brand of fondant (which happens to be FondX at the moment) and mix in some tylose powder. Let it rest for a couple of hours and it will be a firmer to work with. Plus, it will dry harder. May be a little hard to eat, but you that's the sacrifice you make for firmer fondant. icon_smile.gif

Gum Tex mixed in to your fondant will also help it to dry harder. HTH
