oh, I'd like to know also, I am trying my first WASC next week. I am sure regular vanilla BC would be fine but I want something with zing!
I LOVE this cake - lots of icings would work well.
You can do regular/vanilla BC, almond BC, any fruit flavor like lemon/orange/strawberry/raspberry/lime etc. would be great.
In particular, I like Italian Meringue Buttercream with it the best. I use Shirley's method:

There is not enough room on this page for me to list the frostings I have put on that cake. Mind you, I do not always do it almond, either. I have put maple, strawberry, lemon, raspberry, almond and butter flavored buttercreams, but my favorite was extra special buttercream. It has real cream and butter in it. MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm. This cake has been renamed at my place to Olivia cake after my niece. I first made if for her baby shower and the name just stuck.
