I have to do a birthday cake for a man (my first ) and I need some ideas on how to decorate it. The colors are royal blue, silver & black.. it's a 3 tier stacked buttercream cake. I was thinking of doing a diamond pattern for the top & bottom tiers.. but having trouble thinking of a pattern for the middle. If anyone has any suggestions... please share!!

I actually have to decorate it tonight.. the party is tomorrow.. and I still have to go to work at 9am... WOOOOO!!!

THX FOR ALL IDEAS IN ADVANCE!!

Maybe just a plain royal blue tier with a black and silver ribbon or piping? The colors are pretty manly, so I think as long as you don't make it "flowery" it will be fine! That will be a pretty cake-I love those colors together.

Thanks mgdqueen!! Do you think I should make the entire cake royal blue and use black & silver as the accents? I'm trying to picture the cake with these colors and it's just not happening..icon_sad.gif

Crystalina1977..I wish I could use fondant.. but my customer doesn't like it. I even told her that I make it, not store brought(offered to give her a taste)..she just wouldn't have it. thumbsdown.gif

stripes with a basket weave tips would look nice. with either the toothed side or smooth side. i think i would look sharp with the strong diamond pattern.
