Viva Paper Towel Method

what is this method of smoothing the frosting? Can yu explain how it is done?

If you do a search on "Viva" you will find a wealth of information about this method.

Basically, you press a smooth paper towel (Viva) against a crusted bc cake and gently rub to smooth it. You can also used patterned paper towels which will give you a patterned finish on your buttercream.

There is a tutorial in the articles section on the Viva method of smoothing frosting. It called "How to create Faux Fondant." It is near the bottom of the how to section.

I also use a sheet of wax paper and put it on the frosted cake when the buttercream is dry and smooth it out with the fondant smoother.

When I smooth the paper towel I use a long spatula, I think mine is about 12' long.
