without using shortening? I know someone here suggested European style butter a while back, but I have bought 2 brands of this butter and both were yellow. I prefer the no cook icings and can't stand the smell or taste of shortening. Is there a particular brand of European style butter that is white?
Thanks
Joy
Not sure about the white butter question but Wilton does sell a product I have used before to make the icing white when I use butter (its called white white icing color).

I am with Susie thinking about adding a tiny amount of lavender which amazingly turns it white. I was looking for a previous thread for you but I can't find it .

Snowshoe1 - thanks!!! That may just be a lifesaver for me. I'm off to Michaels tomorow to see if they have it.
I tried adding the violet - but was a bit heavyhanded and ended up with purple!!!

Great thread! The cake there is perfectly white. Looks like this is the method to try to keep down on purchases; guess the trick is only a small toothpick of lavender and cream with the butter first - right?
