I am somewhat new to this sight, but I was hoping to get some advice, comments or anything really. I've been a baker/decorator for as long as I can remember(sitting on the counter helping grandma), but I just recently decided to maybe try to make some money from it. I have a 6 month old son, and work as a server part-time. I figured doing cakes from home would be a great way to make extra money and be home with my son. Well, I live in Michigan and apparently it's not legal to do this. I just feel like I got so excited, only to find out it's not someting I can do. I guess I'm just not really sure where to go from here. icon_cry.gif Thanks for listening.

You may want to check the business forum to see if you can find posts from the Michigan bakers.

Is there a possibility that you would be able to use your employers kitchen? I'm assuming that since you are a server we are talking the restaurant business. Is there a possibility of decorating cookies, desserts, etc for your employer to help get more decorating hours under your belt?

I am in the restaurant business, and I did think of my employer. The problem is that I work at Outback Steakhouse. The reason this is a problem, is because we make everything fresh daily so our food preppers get there at about 8 or 9 a.m. and work until we open.
