Come everyone, gather around! Its time to play Have you ever? Cake Edtion!

This is a very simple game. Just answer the post above you and under that leave another little "have you ever" story for the next person to answer. All questions must begin with: Have you ever! See, its just that simple.

Have you ever been craving cake so bad that you either A. made yourself a small 5" cake or B. Defrosted a premade frozen cake to eat ?

Guess I'll go first! Yes to both situations,
of course, once I ate the one from the freezer I had to turn around and bake another one to replace it!


Have you ever made a cake for someone else, but never given it to them and eaten it yourself?

Have you ever baked the wrong cake (e.i. instead of marble baked a chocolate one) and didn't tell the customer, hoping they won't notice?

hmmm.... no, can't say that I have, although I have questioned some people's taste combinations!

Have you ever had a cake come out of the oven only to have it fall and land in pieces on the floor????!!!!

Nope I've never worked with fondant. But that is definitely something I could see myself doing!

Yup, just once though.

Have you ever just cut off part of the cake (ie...the part your two year old put his fingers into) instead of rebaking the entire sheet cake?

have you ever prebaked your cakes, froze them, waited until about a day or so to decorated them, only to drop one on the floor and have it snap in half?

YES , and then I just pretended that the cake fell apart upon cutting because it was really, really tender icon_lol.gif

Have you ever put a double layer of fondant on a cake b/c you had extra just didnt want to mess with taking off the first layer? (ie my plunger cake hee hee)

no, haven't taken any orders or exact requests yet.

Have you ever tried to come up with a new name for something because it didn't turn out as planned? - Right now I have "ugly halloween monster petit fours" in the freezer instead of "German Chocolate Cake Petit Fours"!

Have you ever been distracted when making the cake and wonder if you put in the right amount of sugar, or flour?? I did it today!! Turned out ok, though, guess I was paying more attention than I thought!

Heck, I eat that for a snack myself! My grandson does like my buttercream roses, almost always asks if I have any.


Have you had a cake rise so high it stuck in the heating coils? My small 3d teddy bear did that, sure smelled up the house with that burned cake.

Yes - I don't always use a timer, but I do look at the clock and forget to all the time.




Have you ever dropped a cake in the sink trying to get the bake even strips off from a hot pan??

No.. havent' done that one yet (that coil thing was funny though. must be some high risin' cake).

... forgot to add the melted butter to your batter but then try to mix it into the batter when it was already in the baking pan?

Have you ever......forgot the chocolate chips in a "watermelon" cake and stirred them in after it was in the pan only to discover that they stayed on the top and got cut off when leveled?
