Here are the cakes that I've made successfully for the pumpkin cake I"m doing. I am not going to stack them as I once hoped and the tall cake didn't survive, but this is for fun and for practice, so it's all okay. No money from a client invested into this one.

Here are the pics of the cakes so far.

Very Cool Rachel!
I will be making one of these in the next day or so for the first time. I want to put some kind of "scary" face on it. Does yours have fondant covering the cakes?
Looks so nice and smooth icon_wink.gif

Wow, it is looking great!! What a great idea to use a bundt pan!! How did you get it to be so tall? Did you use an additional 8"? Looks fantastic and would love you try it!! Good luck and post more pics when you are done, please!!

..I'm guessing that's fondant...? How did you get it so smooth-it seems like it would be hard with that shape....perfect shade of orange too-good job!

I am making one next week I hope it looks as good as yours.
Did you stack 2 bundts together? Is that fondant or buttercream?
Do you have any advice for someone about to attempt this project?

Okay - I made 2 bundt cakes per pumpkin, than proceeded like they I had torted them. I put the dam & filling on one, and then turned the over on top like it was simply another layer. I covered it in buttercream, let it sit in the refridgerated for an hour or two just to give it plenty of time to set up, when I was ready to cover the cake, I rolled out the fondant, took the cake out of the fridge, covered it. I used that spray gun that Duff uses to spray a layer of egg yellow (Americolor) and then a layer of orange. I dusted it with Spiced Pumpkin lustre, Orange petal and I picked a spot and dusted it with a light layer of gold lustre.

That's it so far. I'm going to add a face and a stem today. Don't know whether I want to model a 3 D face and stick it on or just put shape cutouts on it to make it look like a jack o'lantern.

Oh, and I used a 10 inch bundt pan that I got at Walmart. If you want to make it taller, bake another cake in a 10 inch round, let it cool, do some simple shaping. Just be sure to dowel it, cuz by that time ti's about 9-12 inches tall.
