Help My First Official Meeting!

hi everyone i have my first official cake meeting on Wednesday and i totally lost and scarred. i have had meetings in the past but they have been with family and friends people who i know, and i know their tastes and personalities. i am meeting a bride and her groom to discuss a wedding cake, they are friends of a friend i don't know them at all, i don't even know my friend very well (moms friends daughter) so Im so lost. the only weddings i have done have been for a cousin, a friend of a friend, and a girl whose brother was deploying to Iraq so she wanted a quick wedding, these people didnt care what it looked like they gave me free reign as long as it came in the colors they wanted. i had pics but they were on a memory chip which i lost before i could get the pics icon_cry.gif what do i bring, she didn't ask for a tasting, just for pics, help please anyone so lost icon_redface.gif

Can you reach out to the three people you made wedding cakes for, explain the situation and ask them to send you pictures; also take along pictures of other cakes you've completed. Even if you don't get this client any future clients will want to see pictures.

Or do you have time to put together a dummy wedding cake?

Bring pics of what you do have. It will show what you have done and are capable of doing.

For the sketch-why not print off some of the templates on here for tiered cakes. With school starting I just bought some handy dandy colored pencils on sale and it's made a big difference with the sketches. The color really makes them pop and they will get a better idea of what it will look like.

Have them bring pics/ideas of what they want. Also ask about the theme of the wedding, what the invitation looks like, etc. They are all great places for inspiration for the cake.

thanks you guys, i met her and her groom today and they were very nice whew! i was so stressed this morning i still had no official pics of wedding cakes i couldn't get the pics on such short notice, then my sis is sick nephew forgot his luch, i had to run over there and drop it off i was so stressed but the meeting went very smoothly (knock on wood) she wants the final price, then we will meet for the tasting, she already picked her flavors i just want to make sure there is no problem. thanks again you guys thumbs_up.gif your the best
