Yet Another Serving Size Question
Business By spongemomsweatpants Updated 21 Aug 2007 , 9:02pm by spongemomsweatpants
ok so i have the list based on Indydebi's sizes. It has for rounds:
6
8
10
12
14
Same for squares
so what i need to know is what about the odd sizes, like:
5
7
9
etc
I am sure if I was better at math I'd be able to figure it out but I was hoping that someone else had already done it
TIA
Trace the pans and use the tracing to mark 1x2" servings, adjusting for the edges the same way you do for the even sizes.
In my experience there isn't too much difference, I would go with the smaller one, so a 9 inch will yield pretty much what an 8 inch will but the serving sizes may be a few mm's larger, I found you don't get a whole extra servings worth going up an inch, if you do the serving sizes will be slighty smaller than the 8 inch and so on.....

Hey Spongemeom.... I think I might have some help for you. I was searching and think I have it.
Check out earlenescakes.com/ckserchart.htm She has a cake serving chart and an explaination sheet there. this should help. (I HOPE)
I would have put it on as a link, but haven't figured out how to insert links here yet.
Let me know how you made out.
Thanks so much everyone for responding. Debi thanks for chiming in, I don't really use the off sizes too much my self but I figured I had better include it in my wedding cake brochue.
Mommi..is there no end to your awesomeness??!! Thanks so much
I just guess a number in between the two even numbered sizes surrounding it. For example, if a 6"round gives you 12, and an 8" round gives you 25, a 7" round gives you about 18 servings. I don't really use those sizes much either, so hope that helps.
Hey no prob Spongemom. that's what we are here for right?
You do the same for me everytime I can't figure it out!!!!
Here is my list (I believe my sizes are fairly close to indydebi's also or at least within a serving or two) All of these servings are for two layer cakes about 4" high and have a serving size of 1"x2"x4"
Size of cake - Round Servings - Square Serving
5 - 9 - 12
6 - 12 - 18
7 - 16 - 24
8 - 20 - 32
9 - 31 - 40
10 - 38 - 50
11 - 44 - 60
12 - 52 - 72
13 - 65 - 84
14 - 75 - 98
15 - 84 - 112
16 - 100 - 128

I forgot to mention that I used AutoCad to figure all of my servings so all of my servings were figured with a total of 8 cubic inches (which is in a 1"x2"x4" serving) At least most of the pieces are pretty close to that within a few crumbs
aross...lol I was guessing too I am so glad I wasn't the only one
Leily..awesome info thank you so much
