OK, everyone - I had a request to day for a cake shaped like a human ear. I'm thinking LOTS of fondant.

Does anyone by chance have pics of an ear cake?

Thanks in advance.

this may help if you want to build it up as a series of layers and then carve.

the layer order is at bottom middle.

to left -- the clip art used

to right -- the layers as they would be on the cake.

only the bottom layers is a whole layer

after that more and more gets cut away.

it might be possible by being careful as cutting to use the parts cut from the second and third layers to make at least part of the fourth layer and then adding more cake sections as needed.

could also undercut around the outside to make even more 3D.

and as you mentioned, cover in fondant.

for grins & giggles -- add some type of earing to the lobe.
