I love the simple elegance of the criss cross imprint pattern on the sides of cakes with the little dots where the lines intersect. Is there an impression mat for this or do people measure and mark then make the imprints? I love this look and really want to do it but I really would like to do it the easiest possible way.

I have done one cake with the quilting pattern on it and I just measured and did the pattern by pressing in the side of a spatula. I'm not sure if this is the easiest way but I was pretty happy with the result.

Yes use the fondant cutting wheel the smooth edged wheel. Take a ruler and with a toothpick mark one inch sections around the top and the bottom of the cake in the fondant by a small pick with the toothpick. Using the cutting wheel and a steady hand draw from one point to the other on an angle. It is really easy to do. I hope I explained this clearly.
