I came home from shopping today only to find my little dog had been hit by a car. I have been crying all day. He was such a sweet thing, and I just can't seem to shake my hurting. My DH had to go out and get him, and I know it just killed him to have to do this, I of course could not. We are at such a loss, its like losing a part of our family.Just had to get this off my chest.

Oh, I am so sorry, those little guys are so much a part of our family, it is so hard to lose them especially this way.

Wish there was a way to make you feel better, but I know there really isn't, just know that I'm full of sorrow for you. Janice

cupcake,
i too have lost a special dog member of our family this way. it is tragic and horrible. the sense of loss and sorrow is overwhelming. just let yourself cry and moarn your precious friend. God gives us a special place in our hearts to love these amazing creatures so dont feel strange about how severe this sadness is. i can remember how being in the house without Koa (our dog) was so lonely and i desperately missed the sound of his clicking nails on our wood floors. they become such a part of the family.
im so sorry and pray that you find comfort and peace in this horrible circumstance.

I know how you feel. If it would've happened to my dog I'd feel the same way. My dog is really a part of my family.
So I'm sending you big hugs and I feel your pain!

I'm very saddened for you and your DH loss. Unexpected tragic loss is never without grief and sorrow. I pray that you will find comfort in knowing your pup knew he was a much loved member of your family. May your days of loving and happy memories sustain you.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have also lost a dog who was the heart and soul of our family, and it was the absolute worst day of my life. Grive for as long as you need to. Look at pictures and remember all the love and happiness you shared. Do you know the story of the Rainbow Bridge? It's lovely but it needs a tissue warning:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry to hear that.

We have a dog that stays in the house and you really get so attached before you know it.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your little dog. He is running free of pain with all the babies at the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure his spirit will live forever in your hearts and in time hopefully you will be able to remember him with smiles.

Thank all of you for your kind words and sympathy. Bluehen I had not heard of the Rainbow bridge, and your right I needed a hankie, but what a lovely story. I am doing better now, but will remember our times that we enjoyed with our pet.

Oh, I am so, so sorry for your loss. Pets are one of life's true joys, and losing one is so devastating. I love that Rainbow Bridge poem. Here's a link to the Rainbow Bridge website where you can create a memorial (free) for your beloved dog, if you'd like to: http://rainbowsbridge.com/

Also, here's the link to another website that has that beautiful Rainbow Bridge poem, and it's set to music: http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html

Take care of yourself.
