I just thought this cake would have gotten more notice...

So either:

1. It's awful! and no one can stand to look at it
2. Bad timing when posted
3. Just not as cute as I though

Please give me you HONEST opinion. I promise I will not cry icon_smile.gif I need some consrtuctive criticsm!!!!

Thanks everyone!!

P.s. If you have a cake that didn't get much notice please feel free to post.

I think your cake is lovely!
I love the colors, pink is so pretty.
Your flowers are beautiful!
So I have to go with #2 (bad timing)

(if I may whisper a little something... I think you wrote too big for the space you had)
BUT NO ONE HEARD THAT RIGHT?!!
Good job and be proud!

I don't see anything wrong with this cake. Nice design and good roses.

I think that soooo many pictures get posted everyday that it is impossible for someone to see every one......not unles you are logged in 24/7 icon_biggrin.gif

This is the first time I have seen this cake.

Hmmmm honest critique coming up.

There is certainly nothing wrong with your cake! Actually it is very well executed and quite lovely. Your pink is pretty, your BC is smooth and your roses are nice.....but to be honest, for me there is nothing that would really stand out either. The dot/scroll design seems to be a common theme, the shade of pink is a very popular color right now.....so maybe it is because it is so similar to other cake designs at the moment.

But like I said in the beginning, it is lovely! thumbs_up.gif

Ditto on so many cake pics being downloaded, if you blink you are gonna miss a terrific cake like yours. It is beautiful, I am partial to roses and scrolls and you did them so well. I hardly get to the gallery unless a post like this comes up, so off to give you a comment icon_smile.gif

well you can do like i did shortly after i first joined. i uploaded a ton of pics spending several days cropping and resizing etc only to have missed the rule about pics with family members / faces in them and lo and behold i got a huge load of concerned pm's regarding such. gets loads of attention that way;

of course i'm joking but let me say now since i did miss your cakes when they were uploaded- very nicely done- very nice baptism cake-- and how can one go wrong with a pretty shade of pink Beezaly icon_smile.gif

I read a design tip on a scrapbooking site and I thought of it as soon as I saw your cake ...

"if you use it once, use it twice"

Now, technically you did use the white twice ... but personally, I would have used the white for the scroll work as well (both "areas" of the cake).

Perhaps there isn't enough "white space" icon_confused.gif which sounds kind of redundant at this point. But like you said you haven't worked much on such a small scale so I can see that you "ran out of room" before you realized it.

I think your cake is lovely ... but like the others said it is not highly origninal ... and I try only put "oh!wow!what a great idea!" cakes in my favorites ... but I still think your cake is great!

By the way, I have a cake in my photos that has had a gazillion people look at it and not a singe "favorite" ... which is quite funny to me because the lady I made it for cried she loved it so much and nobody would cut into it ... but then how many people need a cake for an international adoption agency???

Keep posting!! It might not be "orignal" or "on demand" but hey, if the person liked it and it tasted great ... that's the point! icon_biggrin.gif

PS ... I have not clue why I keep "..." everything icon_confused.gif one of those days!

I joined CC in June and was very excited and spent most of my time before work, here and there at work, when I got home, afta dinner and any spare moment when no-one was talking to me on the computer.

The novelty has worn off, but I do like to read the amusing forums and may sometimes look at cakes from there.

I've got to admit that only rarely do I check any new uploaded photos but I do peek if one has particularly caught my eye. Esp if it's Black and whit 'coz I'm going to do one for Sept.

Your cake is very pretty and I am impressed by the roses 'coz that's done with BC- right? I am only working with fondant and thats enough for me at the moment.

I do enjoy reading about BC world and marvel at the different problems the serious decorators have with transport, payment, Bridezilla's and oozing / exploding layers of cakes. I laughed at the kid who clawed icon_surprised.gif her little fingers down the side of her mum's cake - that was a pearler. You can find that in "who wants my 2 year old" or something like that.

So don't feel disheartened.

icon_biggrin.gif

It's a busy world out there and if we were all on CC all of the time - who would have time to make beautiful cakes and upload them for us to see? icon_wink.gif

BC roses with tip 104. I wanted to use tip 103 but I couldn't find it. (I have a million tips floating around my house) icon_smile.gif

I had to keep them in the freezer until the very second I was ready to put them on b/c it was 100 degrees today!!!! otherwise, they would have melted all over the place. icon_smile.gif
