Hi guys
If anyone remembers - weeks ago I posted my gruesome twosome that I had to make for a wedding next week (friday 13th). I hated them so much that I had to remake them - oh and also the fact that my hubby accidently broke the brides arm off & then my 18 mth old pulled the groom in half (torso & legs)
-- so that confirmed it - remaking was in order.
I think I like these ones better... not sure how "skeletal" they look... but best I can do... I mean - skeletons don't actually have any features so to speak!!! ![]()
Anyways... comments (good or bad) always welcome!

Oooh, I like them! They remind me of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and Day of the Dead figurines you see in Mexico. Great Job!!!
They are great!! My kids really liked them too!!
Love them. This sounds like it's going to be a fun wedding!!
Awww... shucks guys! thanks for the compliments! ![]()
They aren't made in any special way really... just a mix of fondant/gumpaste. But I'll share anyways!
The bride:
(the dress was supposed to look like the pic below here : www.intocamelot.com.au/img/img2005/fairyx08.jpg
Started of with the torso & skirt in plain white fondant/gumpaste. painted it gold, then made the "dress" in 2 pieces skirt cut out flat piece of fondant with petal concept and "lifted" them to add dimension once I'd glued it into place. Then I made a simple bodice. Stuck the arms on & draped over leaf shaped black fondant to make the "eowyn" sleeves. The "vertebrae" is just 2 squashed balled threaded onto wire & the head is a simple ball/head shaped and indented with the balling tool to make the "nose" & eye sockets & jaw lines just rubbed into the face with my fingers. Marked up with reg. marker pen - doubt these would be eaten so didn't worry about that aspect. Then I just stuck the head onto the neck wire - all glued into place. Made the veil from some spare fabric I had and wired it into place & glued on red cutout flowers (she's having roses - but buggered if i was going to try and make mini roses!).
The groom.
He's in 4 parts... legs... butt... torso/arms... neck/head.
The legs are just black fondant/gumpaste mix... stuck onto a butt concept threaded through with v.thick spaghetti, torso made in white fond/gum and threaded onto existing spaghetti. jacket made from cut out black fond/gum & arms stuck into place... hand stuck up the ends of the arms. Head & neck are made the same way as the bride.
These are really really bad explanations... as I typed I realised just how fiddley they were to make! I guess if you've tried to make regular people, it's just the same, but stick a "skull" head on in place - et voila! you have a skeleton bride & groom!
Anyways... glad you guys all liked them... I hope the bride will be happy on the day... guess i'll find out soon enough, eh!?

They look great! I can't wait to see the finished cake! My friend is also having a day of the dead themed wedding and thankfully they purchased a topper so I didn't have to make the skeletons- I don't think I could have done as good as you!
