icon_biggrin.gif I gave my 2 weeks notice 2 weeks ago...last Friday was my last day at my retail job. I went to management and gave my notice......she was quite surprised! I did not ask for every weekend off....but she was insistent that I work EVERY. SINGLE. SATURDAY. icon_mad.gif
I had been having to work at least 2 nights every week and EVERY SATURDAY FOR THE PAST 13 MONTHS....cannot bake at home and work in retail with managers who will not budge.....and I was one of the *2* FULLTIME people there! thumbsdown.giftapedshut.gif The $ was not so great, the hours were killers..and my dh and I never saw each other..........So, dh told me to go for it.........I am HOME TO BAKE!!!!!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif
I am scared to death...but am stepping out on faith that I can do this......so far, so good......have had 3 cake orders in the past week, and a tasting coming up this Saturday, and really have not do very little advertising other than signs on the vehicle! I am really ready to jump in with both feet....and hands.....and everything!

I know I will not make a million $ doing this.....but being home and able to do what I love to do is...............PRICELESS. thumbs_up.gif
Thank you for reading....and keep me in your prayers! icon_smile.gif

Best of luck to you!!! I know how it feels to be in those retail jobs! ugh. I've been a stay at home mom (making cakes for $$$ has just been this past year) for the last 2.5 yrs and it's great. Though I worry when it's time to go back to work...haha. I'm sure it will be an adjustment, though when I went to work fulltime for 6 weeks when my daughter was a year old, I thought THAT was easier than being home with her all day!!! icon_smile.gif

You'll do well, and I'll definitely keep you in my prayers! icon_smile.gif

WooHoo icon_lol.gif ! Yippee icon_biggrin.gif ! Congratulations thumbs_up.gif !

The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step. You've now taken that first step and your journey begins. Awesome that you have the support of your DH! Kudos to him thumbs_up.gif for seeing your potential and helping you to follow your dream. My DH is my biggest fan and he takes orders for me all the time. I want someday to do what you are doing, but in my case I have a job I love that pays well and has good benefits. If I ever get tired of it then I'll make the leap, too. Until then I'll keep baking and dreaming.

Good luck thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif !

There's no point being in a job and wishing everyday you were doing something else. icon_sad.gif

Good on you for being brave enough to do what you love doing. If it works, you did the right thing. If it doesn't work, then you'll just have to go and look for another job.

I have a policy that if you want to do something, do it, or you'll always be wondering "What If" . This way you can say, well, I tried it.

I hope it works out for you and enjoy spending your weekends at home - even if it is elbow deep in icing. icon_biggrin.gif

Congratulations, countrycakes!! It's a great feeling, isn't it? I left my job in June, so I'm right there with you. All together now:

I think I can,
I think I can,
I think I can!

Can you tell I was a preschool teacher? icon_lol.gif

You'll do great!
