Letters For Topper, What Are They Made O'!!???

The top picture looks like beading, like jewelry, on a very fine gauge wire. They probably put a little knot on both sides of the beads to keep them in place and then shaped it how they liked it. I would think that you would have to make sure the beads weren't too heavy or they would bend the wire. I'm not sure about the crystal letters but I know there have been a few recent questions about these monograms that someone else should be able to help.
I am looking for edible letters that i can put on a cake as the topper. Im not sure what to use?
how about candy clay????? i have never used it but i have been told its really easy to use. and there is a recipe on cc for it
Try using royal icing for the lettering. The beads on that cake look like gumpaste rolled into balls, then inserted on the wire, dried and dusted with lusted dust, just a guess! Good Luck!
I'm pretty sure that the momogram is made of royal with the crystals stuck into it and dried. You could do htat with edible pearls or the silver drages(sp)
yes, the letters definitely look like royal icing piped flat on wax/parchment paper, studded with silver dragees and then left to dry and then carefully peeled/lifted off and placed vertically on the top (attached at the base with icing). if you're going to make any decoration like this, get yourself an off-set spatula and make a few extras in case of breakage...trust me, you'll be glad of the extras.
thanks so much for the info. It just that easy huh? I dont know what i would do without this site.

sheilaattaway,
yes, it's just that easy...though it may have been done in stages (piped, left to dry, and then piped over again) to build up the 3-d effect. if you're into heavy piping (which i LOVE to look at but not keen on doing myself), check out books on Lambeth or English Overpiping styles for ideas. i once came across a gorgeous wedding cake book that was filled with overpiping, as well as 3-d sculptural topper ornaments that were made from royal-icing.
