I haven't had course 2 yet, just 1 and 3. I would really like to learn how to make mums for a fall cake, but can't take course 2 until November. Is there a tutorial out somewhere on how to do these? I already bought the course 2 kit when Hobby Lobby had their 50% sale that last time, so I already have the tip, but no book on how to do it yet. I went to wilton.com and looked, but didn't see it under their techniques on how to do these.

Thanks. icon_smile.gif

heres a pic from the course 2 book. i'm not sure how much of it you will be able to read.

i'm also attaching sort a template i made in paint.

Use #5 tip for the mound and then #81 tip for the petals

medium consistency buttercream

pipe #5 mound in the middle
insert tip 81 into mound (indent up), queeze firmly and pull out to the second circle on the template, lift up and away slightly at a 45 degree angle as you release pressur eto form first row of petals. petal should extend only to second circle of template.

repeat piping the next row of petals slightly shorter positioning them between petals in the 1st row. make third row of petals a little shorter remember to pull tips up slightyl. continue piping petals until mound is covered with each row slightly shorter.

i hope this is what you wanted.

debbie2881,

That was so nice of you to take the time to scan that in for me. Thank you !!! I can read it perfectly. I will have to try to make a fall cake a little later. Finally the weather here is cooler and my buttercream should be much easier to handle. icon_smile.gif
