There is a book called The Cake Mix Doctor. It's at most book stores or Walmart/Kmart type stores.

There's also a www.cakemixdoctor.com.

I just got the book from amazon. I got the paperback and I regret it because all the pictures are grouped in the front (and tiny!) I imagine the hardback would have been better.

The Cake Mix Doctor is a really good one. At the beginning of it they give some explainations of what you can change up and what it will do to the cake. That information helps ya play around with other mixes.

They also have a chocolate verison and a cupcake version of the book.

Better Crocker also had one out. It wasn't just cakes, but uses for cake mixes in things, so they have other desserts and cookies in it.

You can also find recipes for doctored cake mixes online at various places.

I love the Cake Mix Doctor book. I have made several good cakes using the recipes from the book.

I too really like The Cake Mix Doctor books. I have all of them. I also like the website - they aren't into decorating, but surely into baking and share ideas and tips. There are some recipes there under "recipes" and in the newsletters. I started with her recipes, then started "doctoring" on my own.

mqguffey, I've seen the hardcover version - and it's exactly the same, small photos in the front.

actually the paper bound version holds together a bit better.
