I made up a batch of the oreo balls recipe someone posted here on CC for a BBQ last weekend - these little confections were the hit of the dessert table. Everyone loved them! If you haven't tried 'em - go for it. Oh I love all the little extras I find on this site.

I know what you mean...I love the info on here.

I am going to make the Oreo balls for a picnic party at school on August 18. I can't wait.

Good name and quite appropriate given the look. Thanks - this is what I'll start billing these as with my guests.

I just love these. I have been making them for years and they have always gone over with a bang. The ease of this recipie makes these so much fun to make more so when everyone goes nuts over them...lol I let them think I slave over them..lol icon_lol.gif

What's nice about them, too, is that Oreo has a lot of different flavors now. The Cool Mint is especially yummy! I also made some using plain label vanilla sandwich cookies, cream cheese, and the mix you can get for making dessert cheese balls. The flavors I tried were Key Lime, and a cherry vanilla/white chocolate.

ok so i read the recipe.... can i use candy melts???? i have no idea what chocolate bark is.... or i have a huge hersheys bar in my refrigerator...can i use that??? As you can see i don't make alot with chocolate and i have only used the wilton candy discs.
Also. when you mix the cookies and cream cheese, should that just be mixed with a spoon in a bowl or should i pull out the kitchen aid.
sorry to bother you guys with something so simple.

You can usually find chocolate almond bark in the same aisle as cake mixes, sugar, baking essentials, etc. at your grocery store. It's almost always with the chocolate chips and such.

Hrm.. you could probably use chocolate chips too. icon_smile.gif

Hope this helps,

Holly

You can put the cookie crumbs and cream cheese in your kitchen aid to mix. I do it all the time. I haven't tried the candy melts yet, so I can't answer that question. I always use the bakers chocolate.

What size balls did you make these into? One bite? Recipe states that they are very sweet and I was just wondering how large you guys were making them. Thanks!

I put these on my Christmas cookie plates that I give to frieds and the Oreo ones are the first to go. I also use Nutter Butter cookies, they are a peanut butter type cookie, and dip them in chocolate. Yummy!!

My sister gave me this recipe a few years ago and every time I make these, they are gone!!! I usually just use a bag of white choc. chips melted with a TBS shortening to dip the oreo balls in. The best thing about this recipe is that it makes sooooo many!

I made them dipped in melted dark chocolate chips and drizzled with Whilton's yellow candy melts (yellow, only color I had!). Brought them to work for 'testing' and everyone just went nuts over them.

They all thought I had slaved over a hot stove making them tasty treats! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

TO DIE FOR AND E-Z to make! thumbs_up.gif

I have made these before but without dipping them. I just drizzle melted white chocolate over them. YUM! They are very sweet, I think dipping would make them too sweet but I will give it a try.

I made the balls very small before dipping since I thought they would be too sweet, also. -- I thought of posting a pix here but I have a new roll of film in the camera (sorry, no digital camera - HighSpeedInternet @ home is as high-tech as this girl gets!!).

The balls I made were about 2 chocolate malt balls put together -- perhaps 2 Tablesp. of the mix. A man can just pop one in his mouth; while a lady takes 1 bite and then has 1 bite left.

I asked if they were too sweet. I guess if you make them around the holiday season, then they would fit right in with all the other sweets going around. Whereas making them now, they do seem a little sweet. Try them with low-fat cookies & see...hmmm, that's an idea!

I tried these today but I used golden oreos instead. YUM! I also made some with nutter butter's. They were so good. I guess you could experiment with your favorite sandwich cookies.
