Hi-
My daughter is having a "Bubble Party" on Aug. 11. And since I make cakes her cake has to be adorable. I have found no cake ideas. I can't believe I'm the first to have ever done a cake for a Bubble Party. Does anyone have any cute ideas they can share with me? I was thinking about tiered and I was thinking fondant. I'm open to buttercream too. Any idea would be great.

Also, I might post this on another topic too, but I always use store bought cake mixes, but my MIL is coming to the party and she is allergic to soy. So I want to make a really good chocolate cake and a good white cake from scratch that will stand up to tiers, but still taste great. Does anyone have a good recipe that they could share?

Thanks,
Traci

I'm not sure what a bubble party is, but if you search the galleries for "bubble", there are a lot of cute duckie and bathtub cakes that have bubbles in them!

For a scratch chocolate cake, I love the one on the back of the Hershey's cocoa can! icon_smile.gif

Howdy Neighbor!

I don't know what a bubble party is, but a cake decorator friend of mine made the most adorable 2-dimensional bubble bottle from various sizes of half-rounds (larger on the ends, smaller in the middle). She made bubbles from fondant and dusted them with super pearl. I think she made a wand from gumpaste too.

Hi-
Sorry about the confusion. The theme for her birthday party is Bubbles. Like the kind you blow with a wand and bubble solution. I've seen the cakes with the duckies and such, but this party is all about bubbles. I like the idea of the bubble made out of fondant and dusted with the pearl dust. I might try that. One of the cakes I sketched out was a bubble wand, but it just didn't seem that exciting to me.

Any other ideas? How about cake recipes?

Thanks.

You need to be careful. Some fondant contain Veg oil which is soy. I have several cakes on my site for bubbles.

Traci,
We're neighbors! There is a cake here with blown sugar bubbles, not sure if you want to go through that much trouble but i thought I'd mention it. I think the gumpaste with super pearl would work nicely. You could make the wand from gumpaste as well. Put some of the gumpaste bubbles on wire. . . Let us know what you decide and how it turns out!

this exact cake was my first thought as well. the bubbles she made were out of blown sugar...which are tricky. there is a tutorial thread that she started along time ago, its floating around somewhere. you could pm her for the link or look around for it in the forums. they are SO beautiful and make such an amazing statement.

if you find that is much to challanging, then i think that the fondant and super pearl or even super pearl and a mix of blue luster dust would be amazing too. i'd do a very pale blue background of fondant as the "sky" and then very pale pearlized fondant "bubbles" ..."floating" around the cake. white or pale blue satin ribbons would be pretty at the base of the tiers.

Maryann's was the first one I thought of too!!!

I think the whole sky idea with fondant bubbles sounds so cute. I'd love to see that.

Wow, myodear, those bubbles are FANtastic.

I'm just going to post this in case she's not online anytime soon to respond in the flesh: but if you look at the description of myodear/maryann's bubble cake that was posted by jilbry, the decorator includes a link to her tutorial. To save you a step, here it is: http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-41980.html

you can post it on the thread if its no larger than 800 (pixels ?), or to your photos.

If you like the blown sugar bubbles, but are not able to make them on your own, you can buy some from here:

You're most welcome. After I get better at cakes, I hope to try sugar work too. Of course, that'll be a while, when there are no babies or grab-whatever-I-can-see two year olds in the house. icon_lol.gif

Just curious how much Bubble Cakes cost generally? This beautiful 3-tier cake would be how much?
