my niece wants an oriental themed cake for her birthday and i'm pretty new at decorating. i'm not quite sure how to do flower petals. i can do roses pretty good i suppose... but could somebody pretty please give me kind of a explanation on making petals and which is the best tip to use??? i'd like to do cherry blossoms considering the theme but i could get away with any type of flower (besides roses...ha!) probably....thanks guys!!!

I am no help on a tip to use, but here is a link to cakes with cherry blossoms on them in the CC gallery. Really cute!

Most of them look like gumpaste or fondant. Don't know if that helps or not.
