I'm wondering has anyone gone through and actually counted how many cool tips were detailed in this thread? I'm wondering how many there are...

Adding a tablespoon of glycerine to MMF after the MMs are melted. It makes it so much easier to work with!

Now I have to save this thread and read it when I have a couple of hours! icon_eek.gif

My favorite tip has got to be for making black icing without adding cocao powder...just combine all your leftover colors together... it will get your icing dark brown/black and you only need a tiny bit of black color to make it perfect!!!!

I guess mine would be Michelle Foster's recipe for fondant. I tried several different recipes and this was the only one that Ive had the best luck with. Close to the Satin Ice that I love working with but not nearly the cost.
Also, meeting my cousin's wife on here that never knew!! She's become one of my best friends!

Using a tall crock pot set on high to hold hot water which I keep my spatulas in while icing cakes. I always have a hot spatula at the ready!

WOW...WOW...WOW...I just read 31 pages and can't remember what all I wanted to comment about and ask.

I love the VIVA!!!

Now here are a few things that I ran across on this thread.

1. WBH??? What is that
2. Sugar Bubbles?
3. Bubble gum roses?

I was so busy reading I didn't click on any links...so I wouldn't lose my place. icon_eek.gif Now my newbie brain is cooked and don't feel like going back through the thread to find them. icon_smile.gif

Another thing....I love CC and the wonderful members that are willing to help the newbies! Thanks again CC!!!!

icon_eek.gif Unbelievable!!!!!! My brain is fried, printer out of ink and my hand is tired from writing. As a newbie to this site and cakes in general CC has it all. I think the icing plugs are going to be my favorite, no more messy hands!! I do use the leveling right out of the oven and that works great. Thanks for all the great tips and recipes, hoping to add my own someday! thumbs_up.gif

Holy cow! I just read through 32 pages!! Insanity! OK, I am hoping I am not repeating anything, it's possible my eyes glossed over a few times icon_lol.gif but heck, it says EVERYBODY must answer, so here's mine!

1--everything ever mentioned in pages 1-32. Seriously! Any number of those great tips were things I would have written if I was the first person to post.

But...I never did see these tips listed here:
2. Adding gumtex to fondant to get it to dry quicker
3. Drying fondant/gumpaste pieces in a gas oven (OFF position, remember to stick a note on it), with the light turned on...the arid environment helps speed drying.
4. Pink fondant, or any fondant with red in it (orange...purple...etc.) will fade if exposed to light for too long, so keep those in a closet (or oven lol) to dry.
5. Spaghetti strands to for extra support of fondant heads/limbs/etc.
6. Everclear to paint on luster dusts.

Hm, I am sure there are more, but it will be a miracle if anyone else ever gets this far anyway icon_wink.gif.

Used the frosting plug last night and it worked EXCELLENT thumbs_up.gif, violet for buttercream didn't, I used too much icon_surprised.gif and microwaved my tips thumbs_up.gif , worked very good too. Also did the parchment paper for the bottom, it came out perfectly, no missing cake pieces icon_lol.gif. I have also used sugar in place of the flour for my cake pan but the cake bottom and sides retained alot of the sugar. Sooo many more tips to try my family is going to be eating cake forever! icon_biggrin.gif
