I need some advice for a cake I'm making for Saturday. I tried to do a fondant bow, but it didnt' dry hard enough. I heard its better to add gumpaste to it.. but icon_redface.gif how do you add it? is gumpaste a powder, or a paste? How do you add it to fondant that is already pre-packaged? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

You can add dry gum paste powder, pre-made gum paste, or gum tex to pre-made fondant.

You just knead in the additive to the fondant. For pre-made gum paste, a 50/50 mix works well.
To add gum-tex, it's 1 tsp./12 oz of fondant. I've never tried the gum paste mix, but I'd think that it would be a similar ratio.

When you use gumpaste I would do 50/50 ratio. But the gumtex works great. You do need it to dry over nite if possible.

I just use the gumpaste mix and mix it with the water it calls for and when the gumpaste is ready I mix it 50/50 with already made fondant and it dries much quicker and very hard overnight!

when did you make it ? I usually air dry mine for at least 4 days.
I use 50/50. Fondant and gumpaste.
