I'm going to attempt to recreate this 1949 Chevy truck. Would it be best to carve this out of sheet cakes? How would I make it look like its sitting on the tires instead of the bottom of the truck?!

TIA!

masonite or foamcore cakeboard.
hidden pillar dowels cut down to height you want cake to stand above baseboard.
glue pillars to baseboard and to masonite or foamcore board under the cake.

pillars are glued right behind where wheels will be so that the wheels hide the pillars.

yes, carve from sheet cakes stacked would be best.
then detail out in fondant.

several examples in the gallerys
