I'm new here.
I got into Cake Decorating back in the 80's. My bestest friend ever took the time to teach me and let me use her stuff. I am wanting to get back into it again.
Here are the cakes I made back then:

Here is more about me if anyone is interested.
I'm 51 and have been married 33 years to my high school sweetheart that I met when I was 14. I was a stay at home Mom and loved it. We have two sons and they were a breeze to raise and are great guys. I have a wonderful daughter in law and a great soon to be daughter in law too. My grandson is 4 and is the light of my life. I started working very part time when the youngest was 15. I only worked 4 hours a month. I now still work part time and it ends up being only a total of a few months a year. LOL! I like it that way. I love emailing, yahoo groups and internet searching.
I have tons of hobbies now that the boys have moved out. Back when they were little I dabbled in macramé, cake decorating, and weaving pillow tops. Now I'm into quilting, purse making, machine embroidery, hand and machine knitting. My husband bought a Harley in June of 2006 and we have over 10,600 miles on it. We absolutely love it.
All of my photos are here:

Oh!! thumbs_up.gif I will watch it when I get home. I do not have a speaker on this computer at work.

As far as the charactor pans I get mine at yard sales or ads in my local paper. You may want to try ebay too. icon_wink.gif Good luck.

I live just two hours north of Syracuse and my son lives in Homer. I bet you know where that is.
Do you miss it up here?

Ha! I know where Homer is! icon_biggrin.gif My husband is from Etna. And I believe my BIL is still in Dryden (he moves around...). My neighbor also just moved down to Homer this past year.

Well, isn't that neat.

Susie, Etna is a speck of a town a bit further south of Homer (and Cortland). He has family all throughout that area.

TooCuteRose thanks for the welcome. They seem VERY helpful and very talkative. icon_smile.gif

Missy, that is weird that we have never heard of Etna. We will have to look for it.

LaSombra, thanks for the welcome. I may have to get up early than I do now at 3:30am to read all of this stuff.

Howdy! Been on here a few months but still feel like a newb myself. Everyone has been great! I have gotten a TON of great ideas from this site. I like to think of it not as stealing ideas, but copying the masters! icon_biggrin.gif Have fun getting back in to decorating! I am self-taught, started with a few party cakes for our gatherings then did all my boys' birthday cakes. If you've done it before, it's like riding a bike. A little pratice and you'll be right back in to it. See 'ya round the site! icon_wink.gif

Sweetrat,
This forum is SO busy. How do you ever read them all? I'm on a knitting forum like that and get so overwhelmed I hardly ever read anything.
That is great that you dug in and taught yourself.
I've only done six cakes and if I remember I did mostly stars.
I'm waiting for my starter kit to come with bags, tips and coloring paste.
It will be fun. I've already told me husband I want an oven put out in the garage to use in the summer. icon_smile.gif
Thanks,
Susie

Monica,
Glad you liked it. We put about 225 miles on it today. Got caught in a thunder and lightenting storm. The rain was so wicked.
Home safe though. icon_smile.gif
Have a nice night,
Susie
