Just joined and am in the planning stages of opening a Decorating business. Wondering if there is anyone here from Oklahoma and if they have any advice. Of course I would love advice from anyone.

Thanks,

Gail

You should start (if you haven't already) with find out the regulations for bakeries in your county. It may be the Health deparment, or it may be the State Deparment of Agriculture that licenses bakeries. Are you opening a storefront or working from a licensed home kitchen?

Some states do not allow 'home baked' goods to be sold to the public.

As for getting started, word of mouth is one of the most effective forms of advertising. Once you are 'legal' you can donate cakes to organizations that have frequent need for decorated cakes.
