Can anyone tell me if satin ice is easy/good to work with? Does it taste better than fondant?

Thanks!

If you are referring to the brand Satin Ice, it is fondant.

It has a pleasant taste and the chocolate tastes like a Tootsie roll.

It is easy to work with and comes in some pre mixed colors as well.

Sorry, I knew it was fondant. I meant if it was better tasting than the Wilton.

Thanks!

Is making your own fondant easy and does it taste better than Wilton's ready made? Has anyone used FondX? I saw it demo'd at the ICES convention this year and tasted it...it was quite nice especially after he mixed it with white chocolate!! But how can you go wrong mixing ANYTHING with white chocolate..YUM!!

I have only used Wilton's and MMf, I am completely nuts over the MMF! It is easy, tastes great and is very cost effective. I have heard very good things about Satin Ice though! The tutorial on this sight for making MMF is great, check it out if you are curious!

I've used FondX and yes, it tastes great, but I find that it stretches so badly that the frustration just isn't worth it.

Satin Ice can be rolled out, picked up and put on a cake with minimal stretching--I can't say the same for FondX. Satin Ice can be put in molds and unmolded and holds the fine details of the mold very well--I can't say the same for FondX.

I have leftover FondX and I have taken to mixing it with.......Wilton fondant.....to give it enough body to work well--not a bad deal because it also makes the Wilton stuff palatable. icon_lol.gif

i LOVE it! Use it all the time. Has a bit of a buttercream undertone. It tastes great (as far as fondant goes) and it is great to work with. It is all I will ever use.
