I was asked to make my friends Dh birthday for Sunday. A regular 8 inch round is not enough so I was going to go to AC moore and buy a half sheet pan or something on that order.

So if I do a half sheet pan how many boxes would I need? I also want to use the Cake Mix extender recipe on this site

Thanks for the help.

Here's the Wilton chart that shows how much batter is needed for different size/shape pans: http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_2inch.cfm

Each cake mix will yield 4 to 6 cups depending on the flavor and brand.

i made a round 9inch yesterday with extender and it filled and baked them to the tops of the pans beautifully..made like an extra 1/2 cake.. so depending on how many servings you need ..i would go by the serving chart that miriel said and go from there..by the way the extender is great with dh..like homemade cake..yummy.

The WASC cake makes just a tad over 14 cups - a perfect match for the 12x18x2 half sheet cake pan:

(Used DH cake mixes.)

Thanks for the help. I hear great things about the WASC,but her DH is very plain and she asked for just a plain white cake.

ps do you taste the almond flavor? has anyone made the cake with out the almond?

Thanks

I have made the WASC with vanilla flavoring only, no almond and it is great! It has such a nice texture and flavor to it.

ok I think this might be my last question on this topic.

I made the WSAC cake in a 12x18 pan. Does anyone cut the cake into two layers and frost? or do you leave it whole and frost the sides and top only?

By the way the cake smells wonderful I can not wait to eat it.

Right now it is wrapped in scran in my refrig watching for the chocolate buttercream. YUM
