I'm pretty sure the last Horcrux is harry's scar which was inadvertantly put on Harry (and the true reason why Voldemort lost his power - he lost too much of his soul to function).
2nd that! Can't wait for Saturday. I don't have to work and I've gotten all the yard work completed so all I have to do is READ!!!
Janeil
the thing with Azkaban is it seemed like they left out so many important details. My husband and I can't figure out how someone who hasn't read the third book can understand the third movie. We told my youngest's godparents that and they bought the book on CD and said the movie made alot more sense, they don't read much but have been listening to the others on trips. I know some other people who liked the first couple movies but couldn't sit through Azkaban and have stopped watching the series, all people who haven't read the books of course.
That is exactly what my sister and I said after we saw Azkaban! DH isn't a big reader, so we wondered if he would catch on. He was a bit confused so I had to explain it to him.
I like the book on tape idea. I might have to do that!

My husband has alternated between listening on tape and having me read aloud on trips, he isn't a big reader either.
I kind of missed the thing with Dumbledore at the end of Azkaban too, that helps explain alot.

Wow - amazing Harry Potter creations, all! That Hagrid cookie is absolutely amazing - but - how could anyone eat it? It's too beautiful!
Well, I've seen the movie twice now (once with my friend, and once with the family after I'd decided the kids were okay to see it) and I think it's my favourite so far. Yes, they had to leave a lot out, (what else is new) but I felt that what they left in still made sense. For me, Phoenix is my favourite of the books (I know, I'm weird) and Prisoner is my close second.
I was extremely disappointed with the movie of Prisoner. I thought they left out too much that was quite important and spent a lot of time on scenes that although funny, didn't really advance the story much. And I didn't care for the actor who played Lupin. I'm sure he's fine, but he's about the only one who was nothing like the character as I pictured him. (Well, maybe Moody, also)
If anyone is interested, I think that in order of best to worst, the movies are Phoenix, Chamber, Philosopher's Stone, Goblet, and Prisoner.
Now, I only have to survive till Saturday, until the mailperson delivers my much-awaited copy. It's so bittersweet - I can't wait to find out what happens, and yet I don't want it to end.
BTW - there is much debate about Snape, and even Bellatrix. Have you checked out some of the essays at Mugglenet and the Leaky Cauldron?

Personally, I have not formed a solid opinion. I guess I'll just have to wait until Saturday!
Awesome!! I got the motorcycle right away! Excellent use of book details to fit in something that isn't necessarily 'magic'!! That's how we make this fun!! Oh, and, fantastic work by the way!
beautiful cookies! I don' tknow HOW you all have the patience to do cookies - NO WAY! LOL
The gal who is hosting the party I'm attending asked if I would do a Chocolate dragon's egg with snitches all over it which Harry got from Mrs. Weasley for Easter... that would be cute too because it was food in the book too! But ti would mean buying an egg shaped pan (nope, I'm not carving!)
I told her about the locket cake... I'm sure she'll like whatever I bring since it's free! LOL
Melissa
mbelgard, Great collection of H.P. cookies!!! Love 'em. Terrific motorcycles!
Nice silver dust paint work! Hey, one of your motorcycles should be standing next to my Hagrid!! That's the scene I was referring to also! Cool!!!
That sounds so fun! I know a ton of kids who would have loved the chance to go to a camp like that!
Are you kidding? Never mind the kids, where do I sign?
Melissa, a VERY light golden brown plus a little extra golden yellow will work well under the Luster Dust (make sure the colour is quite pale - try spraying a small piece first before you colour all the fondant). And DEFINITELY piping gel jewels - it looks so real on fondant!
Don't forget piccies of the final product, please!
Hey I was cleaning out a cupboard and just had to come ask.... did any of you ever see the bertie bott's Beans that CAP Candy made? We still have some left....flavors are earwax, spaghetti, black pepper, earthworm, sardine, dirt, soap, grass, vomit and booger! Dirt really does taste like dirt and I refused to try vomit!!
ok...warning...don't read the review at this link unless you don't mind learning the mereist tib-bits of info -- for the reviewer gives scant details and actually spoils nothing (so much is just stating the expected obvious)
but -- if you want to read what is a mash-note to the book, Rowling, and the series and only builds expectations....
then read on: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/19/books/19potter.html

I must say, NOT hearing the ending of the book is going to be near impossible if you venture outside, read the news, open a web browser or even walk down the street!
Where as I didn't mind knowing what happened in the 6th book before I read it, I mind TERRIBLY finding out ANYTHING now. I want to discover it for MYSELF as it's supposed to be unraveled... I guess I need to be a hermit!
DH decided to take Monday off from work so we can continue to read the book... I'm thinking we'll need to have MIL watch henry some this weekend! Which she should do anyway. She's taking older DS to Croatia for a MONTH, so she can spend time with little DS too!!!
Melissa
P.S. I'm baking my locket cake as we speak...I don't know how the "engraving" is going to turn out. I think my ONLY saving grace is going to be the jewels to disguise the ridges/lines in my engraving. I CANNOT get it to look sharp knife cut. Do you think the fondant will allow me to smooth out the imperfections? Will it RIP!?!??! that's my worst fear! Eeks! I'll do it tomorrow morning so that if it turns out horrible, I still have time to do a FBCT, so at least it will still be smooth... and then obviously ditch the fondant... boy... I'm picking a LOT of new things to do at one time! LOL
Melissa, I am dying to do a cake like that!! IT'S KILLING ME!! I want to be sitting in your kitchen with you, figuring out how to do it all!! Oh, I wish I was there.

Yep, that's my plan for tomorrow - hermitness! I'll check email tomorrow morning, but that's it online until I've finished the book. We don't get the newspaper & will only have kids shows on tv tomorrow. No news channels! I'll be going to pick up the book first thing in the morning & coming home to read all day - no computer, tv, or other contact with the outside world
Melissa, I can't wait to see your cake!

Well, I wish you were here too because then maybe it would turn out! I'm terribly afraid this will end up in the "worst cake" thread. I'm about to tint my fondant now... It's already yellow, just need more yellow and a tint of violet or brown (depending on whose advice I take). I guess I should wear gloves huh? LOL
Melissa
I won't be finished with my cake today - I am working all day and then must be at B&N to get armbands at 7:00, we'll go out to dinner and then go back to B&N to wait for our books!!! I will work on the actual cake after I finish the book. Anyway, I wanted to post the pic of the MMF House shields I have been working on every night this week - I am happy with them all except the Hufflepuff badger...
OMG, those are amazing!!! WOW! Not only do you have a lot of talent, but a lot of patience too! I cannot IMAGINE spending DAYS on anything edible besides thanksgiving dinner! LOL and even then, I don't mind a couple days in the kitchen because I then don't plan on cooking until that Sunday!
BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!
melissa
WOW-what incredible badges. I've been following this thread-I'm a HUGE HP fan too. My step daughter and I will be at Books a Million for the party tonight, then I have to drive her home (45 min each way) and take off at 6am for the other side of the state. I won't even be able to read the book until Tuesday when I come home.
All of these designs have been terrific-the cookies, the BB cakes, just wonderful!!! It makes me think I should have jumped on the bandwagon!
Wowza! Those are amazing Jules! I am totally loving them! The level of detail is just breathtaking!
Melissa, I am sure your cake is going to turn out great! Have confidence! I can't wait to see it!!
I cannot believe the book comes out in like 14 and a half hours!!
I love those shields!! Ican't wait to see what they're going to be on.
I won't be able to read the book until at least Sunday night. I didn't order because our local store normally has the new book that day and people around here don't read so they always have copies and I found out the other day that NO ONE in a 100 mile radius is going to have it. We're going to go get it Sunday (my husband has commitments Saturday) and watch the movie. I don't mind waiting the extra day since I get to see the movie and have a day without the kids.
I'm like you, Melvira! Counting down the time till I can get my book!! The bookstore here (Hastings) is having a midnight release party starting at 8 tonite. They're having wand making, sorting hat, jelly bean tasting, NEWT quiz, snitch hunt and costume contest. My 9 yr. old DS and I are both dressing up. He's going as Harry (of course!) and I'm dressing up as Moaning Myrtle. DH thinks I've lost my mind!!
I think those are really fun cakes & badges! I have already informed my husband that I am barricading myself in my room until I am finished reading!!! I don't want to hear anything!! So, I'll be getting my book tonight...
I made this for my daughters birthday last week. I was sick when I did it, so don't make fun of it too much k? LOL
GAH!! Mock you? When it's THAT beautiful. Oh... I mean... I GUESS it's ok. I've seen worse I suppose. I really expected more from you though! Hehehehe. I love it!!! Seriously, he... I mean IT is so pretty!
