Will a 12 inch round cake, with three layers, feed 20 people? I plan on making a teapot cake from the sports ball, set atop a 12 inch round cake that would look like the table under the teapot. I planned on them not serving the teapot, just the 12 inch round cake underneath -- is that enough or do you think I should make an extra sheet cake?

Thanks!

You will have more than enough cake. According to my serving chart, a 12" round will serve 37 and my servings are larger than most (3"x1"x4").

I agree, that's a big cake for 20! There will be enough for seconds which is a very good thing!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I agree, my personal chart says that a 2 layer 12in (4in deep) will serve 36 - so you will have nearly double the cake you need!

Plenty of cake! My chart says a 12 inch round, with "family" size servings (2x2x4) will serve 24. Party sized servings (1.5x2x4) yields 28-32.

Thank you all! I'll post a picture on Saturday when I'm done.
