Can anyone tell me how much fondant I will need for 4 tiers square wedding cake. It needs to feed 250. I asked what size squares but only got one response. Thanks!

I used 2 1/2 pounds of fondat to cover a 14" round. You may be able to use that to calculate your needs, but always have more than you need. The extra can be saved for another purpose.

I just made 4 tiers; 6, 10, 10 and 12 inch cakes. I mixed up 1.5 batches of fondant. I still have a bit left over.....maybe just enough for another 8 inch cake with a few scraps. Does this help?

For 250 servings I would do a 16, 12, 8 & 6in square, which is 250 servings exactly (including the top tier - I find most people don't want to save these nowadays anyway, or you could offer to do them a replica on the first anniversary if they do want to keep it). For these size tiers, you will need 10-12lbs of fondant, depending on how thick you intend to roll it and if you need extra for other decorations. It's always better to have too much than not enough! I don't find the Wilton chart for fondant amounts very accurate at all - they say for this size cake you'd need nearly 16lbs of fondant (it must be rolled an inch thick lol!) - you really aren't going to need that much! Hope that helps!
