i like to bake and cook but i want to try using fondant on my cakes but i dont know where to buy the fondant. does anybody know how to make it from scratch?

Welcome to cake central. There are tons of earlier threads on using and making fondant. It takes practice.

You can buy it many craft stores, like Michaels. there are several recipes, one here in the recipe section called Marshamallow fondant (MMF)

Most cake decorating books have recipes, too. It is basically powdered sugar, gelatin and a couple of other ingredients-depending on the recipe.
