I spent hours on a figure yesterday using gumpaste (rolled icing with gumtex mixed in ?).... overnight it's gone quite sticky and is marking when I touch it
What did I do wrong????? Is this fixable? I have it sitting in front of a dehumidifier hoping it will dry.....
For any help you can give I thank you in advance
Rilled icing with gumtex will not dry as quickly as regular gumpaste. Hopefully, the dehumidifier will take care of it for you.
Im not sure what rolled icing with gumtex is, but I don't think it's gumpaste.
Gumpaste if mixed correctly will dry hard. I don't think you used the right mixture.
The gumpaste I use is from CK and you just add a small amount of water to the gumpaste powder.
Sorry it dident work out for you, I know wilton sells gumpaste already mixed.
Thank you for such quick replies!
Rolled icing is the equivalent to fondant here in New Zealand. My understanding was that you mixed fondant with Gumtex for figure work?
I had a play with it the other night and that has dried hard. It's been heavy rain all day and night here so maybe there is a lot of moisture in the air
I really should get my 'lingo' sorted before I post a question sorry!
Thanks again for your help!
gumpaste and fondant have some similar ingredients, but they are quite different. Both suffer in high humidity though.
Try putting the figures in an oven with just the light turned on.
