I saw a video illustration through a link here on CC (sorry can't remember the link) and in one of Colleen's books that showed a "crimper" being used to make a decorative border on a fondant cake. The "crimper" look liked tongs but was metal and shorter and had jagged edges. I'm not sure how to describe it but on the video link he called it a crimper. It made a really pretty border and I was wondering if anyone has heard of this tool and if so can you please let me know where I can buy one.
I bought some of these at sugarcraft ( www.sugarcraft.com ).
On the left side of the page, click on Gumpaste/Fondant tools,
then in the right column click on crimpers.
There are places to click for pictures of them, and one of those links also has a picture of some work done with the crimpers.
hth!
Laura.
I use them regularly. You just dip them lightly in cornflour. then crimp away around the edge. The biggest trick is not to be scared of them and just go. If you go slowly you're more likely to tear the icing. I use the traditional smiley mouth shape but you can get lots of different shapes. There is 1 or 2 of my cakes in the gallery that are crimped
I have seen them in the store at candyland crafts, so they probably have them on their website www.candylandcrafts.com
I was wondering what they were for.
