When you guys are mixing your fondant and making all different colors...what kind of coloring are you using? The Wilton coloring used for icing or is there 'special' colors for fondant? I have seen so many different colors and even though I have not made fondant myself I do plan on trying as I used the Wilton and found how disgusting it tastes.
Thanks for any help.

I use wilton icing colors. Sometimes they can be unpredictable so add them a little at a time. They sell ready-colored fondant as well. When adding black to white? You'll wanna start witha chocolate fondant. icon_smile.gif

Well I am not from the US but here in Holland we use the same colors for coloring fondant and icing. The "normal" brands here are Wilton, Americolor and brands from the UK (Squires Kitchen, which is more a paste then a gel, works great by the way).

I read here that lots of people use Americolor and I heard from a friend of mine who did the Master Course of Wilton (yeah with Collette Peters!!) that Americolor works just the same.

I also read that lots of ppl use SatinIce, should taste better. I don't know if it is available with you over there but I also use Ballina (from Argentina, pasta para cubrir tortas), tastes great and smells even better!!

Good luck!!

I use gel colors for fondant. These are the regular icing colors you find in the stores.
